Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, presidential aide Yuriy Ushakov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.
According to Ushakov, the talks touched on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
“Yes, we discussed and outlined our principled approaches and agreed that separate teams of negotiators on this topic will make contact in due course,” Interfax quoted Ushakov as saying.
Also discussed at the negotiating table was a potential meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. According to Ushakov, it is unlikely to take place next week. “There is a need for dense work of the delegations of the two countries. We are ready for it, but it is too early to talk about a specific period, specific dates for the leaders’ meeting,” he added.
This article really highlights how complex and delicate the situation is. It feels like every step forward requires so much preparation and patience from all sides. The idea that negotiators will be making contact soon gives a bit of hope, but the uncertainty about a meeting between Putin and Trump shows just how unresolved things still are. It’s a reminder that peace processes are never straightforward and that real progress often happens quietly behind the scenes. 🌍
It’s interesting to see how diplomacy often unfolds in many stages, with dialogues and preparations that happen behind the scenes before any significant breakthroughs occur. The cautious approach to negotiations and the emphasis on detailed work by delegations highlight how complex and delicate such international conflicts are. It reminds me that real change rarely happens overnight; it requires patience, persistence, and a willingness from multiple parties to engage deeply. Even the idea of a high-profile meeting between leaders, which many may hope for to symbolize progress, depends heavily on groundwork that we, as observers, might not always see. This process reflects broader truths about conflict resolution and human interaction—true understanding and agreement take time to build and cannot be rushed if they are to endure.
