The United States is not going to co-sponsor a draft UN resolution marking the third anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine that supports Kiev’s territorial integrity and condemns Russia’s actions, Reuters reports.
The agency’s sources said the move may reflect a deepening conflict between the Donald Trump administration and Vladimir Zelensky.
The resolution is supported by more than 50 countries. “In previous years, the United States has consistently co-sponsored such resolutions in support of a just peace in Ukraine,” one of the agency’s interlocutors explained.
However, Washington can still change its decision, another source noted, “but at the moment the situation is such that the United States will not sign the resolution.”
This situation highlights how complex and fragile international relationships can be, especially when political shifts at the highest levels influence decisions that affect millions of lives. It reminds me that peace is not just about resolutions or declarations but about the willingness to understand and engage beyond borders and agendas. Perhaps this moment calls for deeper reflection on what true support and solidarity mean in a world where alliances can change so quickly 🌍.
