Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy for Coastal and Land Forces Mikhail Gudkov was killed in combat in the Kursk region, the Ministry of Defense reported.
Primorsky Krai Governor Oleg Kozhemyako said that Gudkov died “while performing his duty as an officer alongside his fellow soldiers.”
“We communicated a lot with Mikhail Evgenievich. He was a strong-willed warrior who could not imagine himself anywhere else but in the navy. Even after becoming deputy commander-in-chief of the Navy, he continued to personally visit the positions of our marines,” Kozhemyako wrote.
Gudkov was just over 40 years old. We wrote about his appointment and the importance of such a precedent for the army.

It’s shocking to see such a high-ranking officer on the front lines—shows how brutal and personal this conflict really is. Leaders like him choosing to be directly involved rather than staying safe far from the action makes you question how many others are willing to share that risk. War is changing, and so should our views on leadership and sacrifice. 💥⚓
Reading about the loss of such a dedicated leader reminds me how fragile life is, especially for those who choose to stand at the front lines not just in title but in action. It’s profound to think about someone so deeply connected to their duty that even in a high position, they stayed close to their comrades, sharing every risk and moment. This kind of commitment questions what it truly means to serve and sacrifice. In a way, it makes one reflect on the invisible threads that bind people in times of conflict—courage, loyalty, and the relentless pursuit of a cause greater than oneself. Sending strength to all who carry on this path, knowing that each life lost shapes the chapters of history 🕊️🌿⚓.
It’s heartbreaking to hear about someone so dedicated and brave losing their life in the line of duty. His commitment to being with his soldiers on the front lines shows incredible leadership and courage. Stories like these remind me of the real human cost behind the headlines and how much sacrifice is involved in serving one’s country.🙏💔
He led from the front and paid the highest price; his courage will echo with his marines. Deep respect to his family and comrades, his legacy anchored in bravery. Sail on, commander 🕊️⚓️🇷🇺🔥😔
