Reuters: Trump’s special envoys Whitkoff and Kellogg to fly to Istanbul

Trump’s Envoys Head to Istanbul for Peace Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Whitkoff and Keith Kellogg will travel to Istanbul for potential talks on Thursday on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Reuters reports, citing three of its sources familiar with the situation.

Trump’s own presence at the talks remains in question for now, a senior CNN source says, and notes that it will depend largely on whether Vladimir Putin arrives in Istanbul.

    It’s interesting to see high-level envoys being sent to Istanbul in hopes of initiating talks to resolve such a complex conflict 🌍🤝. The uncertainty around the involvement of key leaders like Trump and Putin adds a layer of unpredictability to the situation, making every move critical to watch closely 👀. Hopefully, this signals a genuine push toward diplomacy rather than just political posturing.

    This whole scenario sounds like a political circus where the real issues get pushed aside while the big players play their power games. If Putin and Trump are the main focus, what about the voices of those actually suffering from the conflict? 🤔

    {comment:The idea of holding talks in Istanbul to potentially end the Russia-Ukraine conflict feels both hopeful and uncertain at the same time. It’s interesting how much the presence of leaders like Trump and Putin could influence these negotiations, showing how personal dynamics still play a huge role in global politics. Still, any step towards dialogue, no matter how tentative, seems like a necessary move in such a prolonged and painful conflict.}
