Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, presidential aide Yuriy Ushakov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.
According to Ushakov, the talks touched on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
“Yes, we discussed and outlined our principled approaches and agreed that separate teams of negotiators on this topic will make contact in due course,” Interfax quoted Ushakov as saying.
Also discussed at the negotiating table was a potential meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. According to Ushakov, it is unlikely to take place next week. “There is a need for dense work of the delegations of the two countries. We are ready for it, but it is too early to talk about a specific period, specific dates for the leaders’ meeting,” he added.
